Growing up in NYC as a child, My roundest memories of going to the barbershop in Harlem NY was enjoying street fighter and Mario brothers as I wait for a haircut. As a child I did not enjoy the haircut persay given the ending of the alcohol being sprain on my fresh cut and the stinging of the antiseptics, but what I enjoyed most was he gaming and the atmosphere of the barbershop. My barber was also my mentor and good friend. I did not have a father in my life but all of that was null in void given the experience the shop provided.

I keenly remember the smell and atmosphere of the barbershop and the experience of being a young boy among men, men that were present fathers. It was a place that I could go and experience what it felt like to have a father from my mentor and other barbers as well enjoy games! It was a place that made lasting memories and occupy what I have not had present.

I didn’t find the barbershop I was looking for while here in Columbia but yet a barber who reminded me of what I once enjoyed. I took on a opportunity to open one and provide all those memories I had once as a child to create for other children like me. This proved to be bit of a challenge, as I am not a Barber and knew nothing of the industry. That didn’t change my purpose. It is my goal to provide a superior barber shop experience that I once knew. If we do what it is that we set out to do correctly, then you too will get the more than a hair cut and a shave but yet a un-replicable experience that has been lost to me for years until DNA Barbershop opened.
